And here is my hunger games review/fangirl squeal moment!!!
So my entire social network has exploded with nothing but how amazing the Hunger games is!!!! And I have to say, they are right!!! You guys this movie took my breath away, gave me goose bumps and had me crying all the way. I felt like I was there!!! There were small details missing that made me sad but the love between Peeta and Katniss so made up for it!!! I mean gah!!! I'm lucky to be able to form words right now.
For being a book adaption movie they did a damn good job!!!! I did see it in IMAX (the first time) and I have to say that brought my experience to a whole new level. The way it was shot took some getting use to. It was the shaky, in and out of focus, first person shooting and after about 10 mins I was totally use to it. And I have to say it really made you feel like you were Katniss!!! You were right there in and out of focus, muffled hearing, and just everything!!! The only thing I was missing was rolling around in the dirt and swimming in the lake!
And another amazing thing that this did was it made me feel for the other Tributes!!! I seriously felt for Cato in the end!!! As crazy scary as he was, I still felt bad! And Clove was CRAZY!!!! HOLY HELL!!! She was just so scary!!!!
I loved it and need to see it again!!! I'ts one of the best book adaptation around and if you loved the books, you will love the movie! And damn, Snow is an excellent villain!
I mean everything!!! The Reaping tore me to pieces! I had goose bumps and tears and everything!!! It was so raw and so emotional I just felt it zap my heart! And then Rue, oh what can be said about Rue. NOTHING!!!! Because I was to busy sobbing like an darn pussy!!!!
One thing I love about movies is the movie score and the music that goes with it, and for this one, it was on the quite side. But you were able to hear the gravel crunch and time almost stood still!!! It was so incredible!!! All the actors served these characters well and did an amazing job of bringing them to life and giving the emotion and personality that is found between the lines.
Elizabeth Banks made me fall head over shinny heals for Effie!!!! She really brought sparking life to her and damn! Her manners enthusiasm was fantastic!! And OMG Chinna!!!! Make me die!!! He was my favorite character in the books; there was just something about his simple love for Katniss makes me die!!! Their moment before she went up broke my heart!!! I'm dying to see Catching Fire and see more of him!!!
In the book the cave scene in the book I just didn’t feel it. But oh damn!! Peeta sure did shine in the movie. I mean oh my holy moly!!! The romance really shined through and everything between him and Katniss was so palpable! That made me 100% Team Peeta!!
Now some of the things that were left out of the book I'm ok with and here is why. I read before hand about some things that were being left out and why (Avox, the change of the pin, the other stylists). And it was because they didn’t have time in the movie to develop their characters. And that is a good enough reason for me. Yea it sucks, but we can never have every bit of a book into a movie. Not my biggest pet peeve was that her nails weren’t painted with fire. Don’t ask me why that bothers me, but when reading that really stuck with me. And I was hopping to get to see that.
I have been reading that a lot of people think there was a lack of explanation for a lot of the key moments and I have to say that yes there were. But they tried their best. This book is filled with a lot of internal moments with just Katniss and that can be hard to just throw in a movie. I mean you can just sit there and have Cesar or Snow just explain everything like a monologue. I mean these things are so minor that I don’t even care! It’s a great movie and so just wonderful!!!
Go and see it everyone!! You wont be disappointed!!!
Actors/Actresses: 5/5
Everyone was beyond what I imagined. Clove and Cato just blew me away!!! I was so scared of those two! They were incredible!!! Even Katniss and Peeta were so amazing!!!!
World-building: 5/5
OUTSTANDING!!! The Capitol was crazy and ignorant which was amazing!
Stuck to the book: 4/5
We cant always get everything we want, but the changes that were made weren’t to bad. And they made it up by giving us the extra stuff with Snow and others that we don’t get form the book which I love!
Overall 4.95/5
PS: So I just got back from seeing it for the second time (my boyfriend said he wanted to see it and like I was going to say NO!) And I have to say that seeing it again was just as amazing! The first time around, its such a shock to be able to be watching it you are just in awe! I loved it just as much, I cried just as much and my non-book reading boyfriend loved it also!!!!
Tell me about your weekend!! Did you see Hunger Games? What did you think? What was in your mailbox this week??

Great books! I loved Daimon.
ReplyDeleteYour Hunger Games review is so funny. I love your enthusiasm! I haven't seen it yet, maybe tomorrow...
Yes I saw the movie! It was good! They did shorten important scenes but I thought everyting was handled pretty well. I went with two friends that hadn't read the book so I did have to expand on Katniss and Peeta's relationship, about the pin, and about the reaping and why Prim had her name in once and Gale had his in 42 times. But overall I loved it. So awesome you got Masque of Red Death! Can't wait to read it. I also want A Temptation of Angels. Great haul and happy reading!

Hunger Games was pretty amazing! I wrote a review for it too, and I had a lot of the same thoughts. I love that picture of all the tributes!!

Aaah, I hope you enjoy your books! Aaah, Hunger Games! That scene where Katniss did the three finger thingy - my heart swelled up! I was like, "Merrrp! *TEAR TEAR*" And was it just me or was Kato totally TEH SEXXX?! Personally, i think it's Gale, Kato, AND THEN Peeta - but that's just me, bwahahaha!
ReplyDeleteAnd yesssss, Effie was freakin' awesome! I didn't like her in the books because she was just flat out weird but man, she really grew on me in the movie! She was probably one of my most favorite character! LOL :)
Happy reading, Tara!
