Best of 2011: Books I Want In 2012

This year has been such an amazing adventure for me and its been filled with amazing life moments.  My biggest accomplishment of this year is that I graduated and became a Registered Nurse.  I'm so proud of my accomplishment and ability to  persevere through the difficult times.  There were times I never thought I would be able to complete my nursing adventure but that all came to an end in May when I was able to say I am a college graduate!!! BSN ALL THE WAY!!!! And then came August 22 when I was able to put the two most beautiful letters behind my name, RN.

This year also brought two amazing weddings my way.  My two closes friends in the whole world got married this year (2 weeks apart!!! and I also had a birthday between the two!)
This was also the year I started working on myself.  I join Weight Watchers back in February, the same day I had to start over at school.  It was difficult time for me having to reflect on myself and work through my issues.  But I made it out alive and I have managed to lose 48.2!!!!!!!
So this year has been about celebrating and enjoying life’s moments!
Aside from my personal accomplishments I have also made amazing book accomplishments.  This year I really got into reading.  I enjoyed it so much I started a blog! Which has been so fun!!!! All week you have been reading my Best of 2011 post (I know everyone loves the book boyfriend one) and now we have come to the final post! Thanks to Jessica from Confessions of a Bookaholic, Lisa from A Life Bound by Books, Rachel from Fikshun, Jamie and Patricia from Two Chicks on Books for such an exciting week! Dont' Forget everyone can join in the fun.  Each day you add your top 10 list to the linky, you get an extra entry into the giveaway for a $50 amazon gift card! Just remember, each day will have a linky for THAT Top 10 topic and your list has to be for that top 10.  Here is what the week will look like:

Tuesday 12/27 – Top 10 Book Covers of 2011
Wednesday 12/28 – Top 10 Book Boyfriends in 2011
Thursday 12/29 – Top 10 Characters in 2011 (This can be anything you’d like to make it for characters. You can post your favorite Villains, etc. Just be sure that this post is character based.)
Friday 12/30 – Top 10 Books I’m looking forward to in 2012 (Also on this day, we’ll each be adding some kind of a recap of the total number of books read, pages read, etc. This part of the post is optional. Feel free to add any stats you’d like to share with everyone. So, if you’d like to also include some end of year stats, feel free to join us!)

This is the last and final post of the Best of 2011!!!! It’s all about next year.  What books do you look forward to in 2012! It wants up to pick ten but that is just so hard!!! So I divided it up a bit.  Because I could probably pick 50 just from series that I have already read and want more of and that’s not really fair to the rest of the books out there.  So I have two categories: Series and Stand Alone/ New Series.

The 10 12 (top 12 of 12 sounded cool!)
Books I Look Forward to in 2012

Series
Onyx
by Jennifer L. Armentrout (May 2012)
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies...
As if anything by Jennifer needs an explanation, especially if Daemon is involved!!!! I devoured Obsidian and just about died with the teasers from Daemon’s POV. I CAN NOT get enough.

Clockwork Princess
by Cassandra Clare (Fall 2012)
In Clockwork Princess, Tessa and her companions travel all over the world as they race to stop the clockwork army before it's too late. As Jem's health worsens alarmingly and his friends search desperately for a cure, can Tessa choose between the two boys she loves — even if it means never seeing the other one again?
Well we have to see how it ends!!!! I read Prince right away and I'm sorry I did because it tore my heart to pieces and made waiting for this book that much harder! Who will Tessa choose? And how the hell will she do it? What will happen to everyone??? And will Jem make it??? Sometimes it’s just too much to take!

City of Lost Souls
by Cassandra Clare (May 8, 2012)
In Book 5: City of Lost Souls, the Shadowhunters struggle to piece together their shattered world after a betrayal by one of their own leaves them reeling.
If it wasn’t for The Infernal Devices I might have gone crazy!!!! I'm so in love with Shadowhunters and Jace that the last book about killed me also (I think Cassandra is going to have to change her job profession from writer to ASSISAN! She is deadly with her words and takes out her readers with deadly forces and sexy men!)

Shadows
by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Feb 2012)
The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

HELLO TWINS!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to know more about Dawson but also scared because I know how it ends L but if he is anything like Daemon (and I'm sure hoping) it’s going to be a great ride!

5 Pandemonium (Feb 28, 2012) and Hana (Jan 17, 2012)
by Lauren Oliver
I’m pushing aside
the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana
and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame?
Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite

I LOVE Lauren Oliver.  Her writing always manages to touch a special place in my heart and makes me feel so good! I cry, I laugh and I'm always wanting more.  Delirium was the first dystopian book I have read but I just totally loved it. And as a nurse I love the concept of love being a disease!!! I need more so bad!!!!

6 Untitled Mara Dyer #2
by Michelle Hodkin (Fall 2012)
Michelle is such an amazing debut writer and I'm so excited to know that there is going to be more!!!! I need more Noah and Mara!!!

7 Untitled Hush Hush #4
by Becca Fitzpatrick (Fall 2012)
I hope that I get what we all have been waiting for: some damn umph time between Patch and Nora!!!! Those two need to release some of the tension they have between each other, LIKE NOW!!!!!!

8 Pure (April 3, 2012) and Deity (Nov. 6, 2012)
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
From Pure

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

So I haven’t totally finished reading Half blood but I was in love when I read the line Son of a bitch.  I love it!!!!!! I tend to curse a lot and use that line all the time so I was pretty much LOLing the whole time while reading it!!! There for I must have the next books!!! Besides, it’s Jennifer!!!!!! I seriously cannot get enough of her books!

9 Predestined (Existence #2)
by Abbi Glines (April 2012)
You would think after helping save her boyfriend from an eternity in Hell that things would go back to normal. Well, as normal as life can be when you can see souls and your boyfriend is Death. But for Pagan Moore, things are just getting weirder.

The high school quarterback and reigning heartthrob, Leif Montgomery, is missing. While the town is in a frenzy of worry, Pagan is a nervous wreck for other reasons. Apparently good ‘ol Leif isn’t your average teenage boy. He isn’t even human. According to Death, Leif doesn’t have a soul. The quarterback may have skipped town but he’s still showing up in Pagan’s dreams... uninvited.

Dank has known from the beginning Leif wasn’t human. But he hadn’t worried about a simple soulless creature. Now, he realizes he made a grave mistake. Pagan’s soul has been marked since birth as a restitution, to a spirit so dark not even Death walks near it. Dank knows saving Pagan’s soul won’t be easy but Pagan is his. And he’s already proven he’ll defy Heaven to keep her. If Hell wants a piece of him too, then bring it on.

THE WROST LAST LINE EVERY IN ANY BOOK!  I mean come on Abbi!!! How could you end Existence like that!!! I really loved this book and all the characters. It was so different and exciting. I love paranormal books with reapers and death in them (not people dying but Death itself. Always-such an intriguing character to write about).  And now I was so excited to know its gong to be a series!!!! April is going to be a good month!

10 Endlessly
by Kiersten White (July 24, 2012)
The third book in the Paranormalcy trilogy.
The final chapter of Evie's adventures. Old friends, new ones, all wrapped up in impossible decisions. And some ball gowns. Because what's a life of normal and paranormal drama without a ball gown or two?

I'm really excited for the ending of this series.  I love Evie and her enthusiasm for life and her desire to be normal. I just can’t wait to see how it all ends!!!! Oo and Reth! Yes please!

11 Bloodrose
by Andrea Cremer (Jan 3, 2012)
The Ultimate Sacrifice.

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there’s more at stake than fighting. There’s saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay’s wrath. There’s keeping Ansel safe, even if he’s been branded a traitor. There’s proving herself as the pack’s alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers’ magic once and for all. And then there’s deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

In the final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Andrea Cremer creates a novel with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat until its final pages. A dynamic end to this breathtaking trilogy.

So I haven’t read Wolfsbane yet (hides head in shame) but I hope my best friend got it for me for Christmas. But when I do, I know I'm going to want Bloodrose next.  I fell head over heals for Nightshade and all the characters and I know that they just get better! I can’t wait for this to be at my door!

12 Rapture (June 12, 2012) And Fallen In Love (Jan 24, 2012 )
by Lauren Kate
From Rapture
The sky is dark with wings. . . .

In RAPTURE, the highly anticipated fourth and final novel in the FALLEN series, Luce and Daniel are together . . . but for how long? Can history be rewritten? Or are some punishments eternal?

From Fallen In Love
What makes your heart race a little faster? Just in time for Valentine's Day, it's FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.

I have to say that Passion was a let down for me.  I really LOVED Fallen and Torment was a decent follow up. But passion just didn’t do it for me.  I'm excited to know how it all ends and I hope that it’s better than passion.  I also really want to know more about everyone else aside from Luce and Daniel.

Stand-alone and New Series
Cursed
by Jennifer L Armentrout (Sep 18, 2012)
Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

Guess I have a book for my birthday wish list!!!! It’s going to kill me to have to wait though!!!! Like I have repeated over and over I LOVE JENNIFER’S WORK!!!!!! If you have not read any of her work stop reading my blog and pick up either Half Blood or Obsidian NOW!!!!!!

In Honor
by Jessi Kirby (May 8, 2012)
Honor receives her brother’s last letter from Iraq three days after learning that he died, and opens it the day his fellow Marines lay the flag over his casket. Its contents are a complete shock: concert tickets to see Kyra Kelly, her favorite pop star and Finn's celebrity crush. In his letter, he jokingly charged Honor with the task of telling Kyra Kelly that he was in love with her.
Grief-stricken and determined to grant Finn's last request, she rushes to leave immediately. But she only gets as far as the driveway before running into Rusty, Finn's best friend since third grade and his polar opposite. She hasn't seen him in ages, thanks to a falling out between the two guys, but Rusty is much the same as Honor remembers him: arrogant, stubborn. . . and ruggedly good looking. Neither one is what the other would ever look for in a road trip partner, but the two of them set off together, on a voyage that makes sense only because it doesn’t. Along the way, they find small and sometimes surprising ways to ease their shared loss and honor Finn—but when shocking truths are revealed at the end of the road, will either of them be able to cope with the consequences?
I devoured Moonglass and then I saw the info for this book and just went crazy!!! I can’t wait to see how these characters discover one another!
Sweet Evil
by Wendy Higgins (May 1, 2012)
What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences? This is life for sons and daughters of fallen angels in Sweet Evil.

Anna, a tender-hearted southern girl, was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage, and her will-power is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

A cross-country trip forces Anna and Kai to face the reality that hope and love are not options for their kind. When it's time for Anna to confront her demons, will she choose to embrace her halo or her horns?

Lately it seems like I cant get enough of the bad boys!!! This one sounds great and I mean look at the cover!!! HELLO HOTTIE!

The Selection
by Kiera Cass (April 24,2012)
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

I keep seeing this book on just about every blog I read.  It sounds so good.

The Raft
by S.A. Bodden (Aug. 21, 2012)
Robie, 16, lives with her family on the Midway atoll, a group of islands in the middle of the Pacific. Her parents are scientists; it’s an isolated life. Robie enjoys visiting her aunt in Hawaii – she gets back and forth on a cargo plane that brings supplies to Midway.

During a visit, her aunt is called to the mainland for a work emergency, leaving Robie to get home on her own. On her flight back to Midway the cargo plane hits nasty weather, and goes down. It’s just Robie, the pilot, and Max, a co-pilot she’s never met till this flight, on board. Robie is pulled aboard a raft by Max, who is injured and slipping in and out of consciousness. They have a bag of candy and very little water between them. When they finally reach an island that seems abandoned, Robie hopes they’ll be found quickly. But she’s not sure she was even on the flight manifest. Her parents must be looking for her…aren’t they?

In THE RAFT, S.A. Bodeen creates a hair-raising suspense story that will have readers agonizing over the same question as Robie -- how long can they survive?

This cover is just like WOW. I love it! I can use a new adventure book and this seems like it’s going to hit my spot!

The Immortal Rules
by Julie Kagawa (April 24, 2012)
You will kill. The only question is when.

In the dark days since the insidious Red Lung virus decimated the human population, vampires have risen to rule the crumbling cities and suburbs. Uncontested Princes hold sway over diminished ranks of humans: their "pets." In exchange for their labor, loyalty and of course, their blood, these pets are registered, given food and shelter, permitted to survive.

Unregistered humans cling to fringes, scavenging for survival. Allison Sekemoto and her fellow Unregistereds are hunted, not only by vampires, but by rabids, the unholy result of Red Lung-infected vampires feeding on unwary humans. One night, Allie is attacked by a pack of rabids, saved by an unlikely hero...and turned vampire.

Uncomfortable in her undead skin, Allie falls in with a ragtag crew of humans seeking a cure, or cures: for Rabidism and for Vampirism. She's passing for human...for now. But the hunger is growing and will not be denied. Not for friendship—not even for love

I will read pretty much anything that she puts out.  I haven’t finished the Iron Fey series but I will and I know after I finish them ill be craving more from Kagawa.

Undeadly
by Michele Vail (Feb. 28, 2012)
The day I turned 16, my boyfriend-to-be died. I brought him back to life. Then things got a little weird...

Molly Bartolucci wants to blend in, date hottie Rick and keep her zombie-raising abilities on the down-low. Then the god Anubis chooses her to become a reaper—and she accidentally undoes the work of another reaper, Rath.

Within days, she’s shipped off to the Nekyia Academy, an elite school that trains the best necromancers in the world. And her personal reaping tutor? Rath. Who seems to hate her guts.

Rath will be watching closely to be sure she completes her first assignment-reaping Rick, the boy who should have died. The boy she still wants to be with.

To make matters worse, students at the academy start turning up catatonic, and accusations fly—against Molly. The only way out of this mess? To go through hell. Literally.

I love anything about reapers (I know I said it before but it bears repeating). I wish more books would be written about them.  This cover is just breathtaking and I'm going to be one happy reading in February!

Everneath
by Brodi Ashton (Jan 24, 2012)
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she's returned- to her old life, her family, her friends- before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can't find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there's a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he'll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki's time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she's forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole's..

I'm super excited for this one also and luckily I don’t have to wait much longer! Oo I'm trying to think of more to say but all I can do is make sex noises!!! I'm just that excited!

TheAlchemy of Forever
by Avery Willams (Jan 3, 2012)
People say ‘love never dies’… but love might be the death of Seraphina. Seraphina has been alive since the Middle Ages, when her boyfriend, Cyrus, managed to perfect a method of alchemy that lets them swap bodies with any human being. Sera ran away from Cyrus years ago, when she realized that what they were doing—taking the lives of innocent people—was wrong. She doesn’t want to die, so she finds young people who are on the brink of death, and inhabits their bodies. When we meet Sera, she has landed in the body of a girl named Kailey who was about to die in a car accident. For the first time, Sera falls in love with the life of the person she’s inhabiting. Sera also falls for the boy next door, Noah. And soon it’s clear the feelings are returned. Unfortunately, she can never kiss Noah, because for her to touch lips with a human would mean the human’s death. And she has even more to worry about: Cyrus is chasing her, and if she stays in one place for long, she puts herself—and the people she’s grown to care for—in danger.

It looks like I’ll be reading a lot of books about death in 2012. This sound so different than anything I have read I'm so excited.

10 Wake
by Amanda Hocking (Aug. 21, 2012)
Lose yourself in the magic of Watersong, an unforgettable new series about two sisters who nearly lose their lives - and their loves - when they fall under the spell of three beautiful but deadly sirens.

First in a four-book paranormal romance YA series from bestselling author, Amanda Hocking.

I haven’t read any of her other work but they are quickly filling up my nook because I hear such great things.  I like that is about Sirens.  More mythical creature that aren’t wrote about often enough.
11 Underthe Never Sky
by Veronica Rossi (Feb 7, 2012)
Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.

As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.

They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers abarbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love - one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY

The first book in a captivating trilogy, Veronica Rossi’s enthralling debut sweeps you into an unforgettable adventure

Aside from a lot of Death books, I might also read a lot of dystopian books too! This one sounds great.  And the cover is just wonderful!

12 Of Poseidon
by Anna Banks (May 22, 2012)
Emma and her friend Chloe are spending vacation in Florida. When Emma (literally) runs into a hot guy named Galen on the beach, little does she know he’s a prince of the Syrena. Galen and Emma both feel something strange – is it attraction? – and Galen suspects that Emma might well be the girl he’s heard of – a human who can communicate with fish.

What follows is a deadly scene with a shark in which Galen witnesses Emma’s gifts. He must know more about her, and follows her back to New Jersey, and high school, to find out for sure if she’s the key to saving his kingdom. Soon, Emma can’t deny her feelings for him, but can’t explain them, either – and both she and Galen must learn more about where she comes from and what her powers are before they can trust one another and their feelings.

Again different concepts seem to be dragging me away from my bookshelves. I have a TON of other book on my self but I always seem to want more! Like this one! Totally different.

So that’s a sample of what I'm looking forward to in 2012.
